GLOWING YEARS

Glowing Years Ministry (GYM) is for all seniors who believe that the best years of our lives are yet to be – and that we are all positively glowing for our gracious Lord, who has given us time and opportunity to shine for Him in many wonderful ways.

Here’s what we do:

BIBLE STUDY – searching for imperishable treasures from God’s eternal, living Word.

• Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, 10.30 – 11.30 a.m.
• Every Saturday morning, except the fourth Saturday, 10.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.

SOCIAL GATHERING in congenial surroundings with loving Christian friends younger and (some) older than yourselves – every 4th Saturday of the month. Activities include:

• Joyful songs of praise
• Evergreen songs of yesteryear
• Heartfelt testimonies
• Thoughtful sharing
• Humble prayer requests
• Lively line dancing
• Absorbing board games
• Lip-smacking enjoyment of delicious home-cooked food and desserts prepared by some of the best chefs in BRMC (and – we venture to claim, with a little modesty – Singapore).
• Craft works: creating with your hands.

SINGING – with the vibrant BRMC GYM Mellow Tones. Practices on most Sundays, 11.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.; first Sunday, 10.30 a.m. ‒ 12.30 p.m.

The Mellow Tones have performed with feeling – and more than a little style and assurance – on various occasions, including our very own GYM Sunday and at Orchard Road as part of Celebrate Christmas in Singapore.

We have also recently completed recording our very first CD of inspirational melodies.

VISITS (under the banner Heart For Our Own) by the GYM committee to members who are unable to attend church for one reason or another. During these visits, we share thoughts and a simple meal, pray, and sing hymns and never-forgotten secular songs.

EXCURSIONS around Singapore to interesting and inviting nooks and corners that you have probably never had the time or inclination to check out during the busy working years of your youth.

Occasionally, too, we travel up north to Malaysia to visit our brethren churches – we flew to Penang in 2010 and 2012, drove up to Johor Bahru and Malacca in 2011, and took a flight to Kuching, Sarawak, in 2013.

GYM Activity Day. From January 2014, this will take place every Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. As lunch and a light tea will be provided, those wishing to attend are kindly requested to register their interest.
