BRMC Youth Ministry

BRMC was founded in 1956 by Secondary School boys from ACS, many of whom were members of the Boys' Brigade, 12th Singapore Company. 3 TRAC Methodist pastors today can claim BRMC Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) as the source of their spiritual nurture and training to be Christian leaders - the Reverends Lim Jen Huat, Noel Goh and Diana Khoo. From the very beginning, BRMC is a church that has a strong emphasis on Youth Ministry & Outreach.

Today, BRMC recognizes the importance of outreach to young people by acknowledging the immediate mission field of the church as the educational institutions sharing the Barker Road campus - ACS (Primary), ACS (Barker Road), Oldham Hall and Barker Road Methodist Church Kindergarten. God helping, BRMC will continue in her responsibility of spiritual oversight.

The preferred strategy of Youth Ministry in BRMC is that of co-existing Youth Communities where fellowship, friendship and learning take place. "Youth" in Christian ministry circles refer to those between 12 and 21 years of age. Each of the Youth Communities will have their different areas of emphasis and styles of carrying out Youth Ministry.

Parents are advised to encourage their teenagers to:

  • mix with other Christian teenagers. This is healthy and part of their growth and maturity
  • participate with a desire not just to make new friends but to learn about the things of God as well
  • plan their time wisely as it may be impossible to go for everything that is available under Youth Ministry in BRMC
  • be committed to Youth Ministry without neglecting their studies and family relationships
