Married for Life Course

As marriages crumble all around us and families break down like never before, you cannot afford to take your own marriage for granted. So how do you strengthen your relationship with your spouse and experience healing where it hurts? Not until you have discovered the power of two becoming one.

Don't miss this opportunity for you and your spouse to experience God's transforming power in your marriage. You'll be amazed how dead, dull marriages can be reawakened, hurting marriages can be healed and good marriages can receive new life and vision.

Married For Life (MFL) is a 14-week marriage enrichment course, based on Gods blueprint of marriage, and conducted in small groups. Developed by 2=1 (formerly known as University of the Family and Marriage Ministries International), MFL has been taught in over 90 countries for 25 years.

Trek Thru The Bible - JOB

Trek Thru The Bible
Discipleship and Nurture Ministry
JOB

With Daniel Long

 Dates : 15, 22, & 29 Jul
 Time : 08:00 - 10:00 pm
Venue : Sunday Sch Teachers' Room
(Level 2 Kindy Block)

The Book of Job has been called "the most profound and literary work of the entire Old Testament". Join us as we begin a journey to unravel together the mysteries of Job and what it has to say in relation to why seemingly righteous and upright people sometimes suffer for no just reason, the correct posture a Christian should adopt when faced with trials and tribulations, the manner of advice which should be offered by well meaning friends to those who have entered into a season of suffering and critically, the character and constitution of Almighty God as One who 'gives and takes away'.

Daniel has been attending BRMC for more than 20 years and together with his wife, Muiling, they have spent many years teaching and care-giving to teenagers in Sunday School. Apart from Daniel's passion with regards to the nurturing and development of young lives, he also holds a special interest in trying to make sense of the perplexing issues which confront many a Christian in the marketplace today. Daniel currently serves on the Local Church Executive Committee in the capacity of Young Adults Ministry advisor and is a professional fund manager.

Mums and Babes Ministry

  Mums and Babes Ministry

  When: Saturday, July 26, 09:30AM to 11:30AM
  Topic: Separation Anxiety
 Speaker: Mrs Chao-Koh Ai Jin
Where: 21 Sunset Avenue (off Greenwood Ave)

You are heading out for an appointment and your toddler is clinging on to your neck, crying hysterically. She continues to scream despite your attempts at soothing her. Finally you just have to tear her little arms away from you and walk off. This is a scene that repeats itself over and over again at a certain stage of parenting.

In this session, which will be a time of discussion led by Ai Jin, we will seek to understand what your child may be going through. How do we parents minimise the agitation that separation causes? When will these "scenes" end? What are some strategies to use and how can we appropriately respond to our young child?

Ai Jin is no stranger to us. She is a trained counsellor with the church and has two young children. Rather than being speaker-centric, the session aims to give mothers a time to share their experiences - their struggles and their triumphs - as well as pray with one another.

Mums and Babes is a fellowship for mothers who have young children. Mums may bring along their older children and their non-Christian friends. There will be light snacks after the session. A $5 registration fee will be collected.

Corporate Prayer Watch

Our Nation, Our Singapore
The Antioch of Asia

Let us gather together in one accord to pray for our nation

When the world celebrates the opening of Olympics 2008 on 8 August 2008, churches in Singapore will be gathering to pray with one heart for matters that have eternal significance: a life changed, a church revived, a nation transformed, a world evangelized. BRMC Prayer Ministry invites every member of this church to join us at this National Day Eve Corporate Prayer Watch as we pray as a Body for a transformation in our nation.

In the light of the events that are taking place in our nation, there is no better time than now to seek the face of our God and pray for our nation. We will go deep and pray for revival in our land. We will pray for the destiny of Singapore and ask boldly for Singapore to fulfil her calling as the Antioch of Asia. We will love God by loving our neighbour. We will remember the poor. OUR PRAYERS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Together we can make a difference in our city. Will you be part of this Defining Moment?

Adult Bible Class

  Adult Bible Class
“You are the salt of the earth”
- Being a Christian in the workplace

  Date: Sunday, 17 Aug 2008
  Time: 09.00am to 10.15am
 Speaker: Dr Tan Gee Paw

As recorded in Matthew 5:13, Jesus said "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men”.

What did Jesus mean when he said those words? How are we to apply that today, especially in our career choices and in our working lives?

ACS International Preaching Point will be commencing an ADULT BIBLE STUDY on Sunday, 17 August from 9.00 am to 10.15 am to examine the issue of being a Christian in the secular workplace. The study will be facilitated by Dr Tan Gee Paw, a respected member of Barker Road Methodist Church and a frequent speaker at activities held by the various ministries. Dr Tan is currently the chairman of PUB.
