SUMMARY:EQUIP - Growing as Disciples of Christ (GDIC Module 2)
DESCRIPTION:The Growing as Disciples In Christ (GDIC) programme is made up of three modules\, based on the established 2:7 series by The Navigators\, starting in February 2025. \nGDIC Module 2 (of 3) will take place over 11 weeks. During this course\, we will: \n\nCultivate the habit of daily devotional time and learn to spend extended time with God\n⁠Learn to evangelize and share our salvation story\n⁠Study the Bible on spiritual warfare\, knowing God’s will\, how to grow in faith as disciples of Christ.\n\n*Participants will need to have completed GDIC Module 1 before signing up for GDIC Module 2. SUMMARY:Day of Pentecost
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS IT?\nA celebration of when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples\, fifty days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. “Pentecost” stems from a Greek term meaning “fiftieth day”. \nWHY DO WE CELEBRATE IT?\nWe give thanks to God for the gift of the Holy Spirit\, enabling us to share in and continue the work of Jesus in the world. Without the Holy Spirit\, we would never have the grace our strength to pursue holiness in our life and in the world. \nTHE DOVE AND TONGUES OF FIRE\nThe dove and the tongues of fire are two common symbols of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptised\, the Holy Spirit descended upon him “like a dove” (Mt 3:16; Mk 1:10; Lk 3:22; Jn 1:32). At the Upper Room\, the Holy Spirit descended upon the disicples like “tongues of fire” (Ac 2:3). \nWHAT DO WE DO?\nBaptisms and Confirmations are sacramental acts in which the Holy Spirit is invoked upon the candidate – Pentecost is thus an appropriate time for baptisms\, and confirmations in particular. \nRed is used to signify the fire of the Holy Spirit and the blood of the martyrs in the Early Church \nConfirmations are often conducted \nTHE BIRTH OF THE CHURCH\nThe Day of Pentecost in Acts 2 is records the “birth” of the Church\, in the sense that it marks the start of the ministry of the Church. It marks the reversal of the confusion of languages at Babel in Gen 11\, because while different languages remain\, we are united now to proclaim God’s praise to the ends of the earth. \nREFERENCES \nTruscott\, Jeffrey A. DESCRIPTION:Join us for weekly pickleball sessions designed to promote intergenerational bonding and an active\, healthy lifestyle within the BRMC family! \nWhether you’re a seasoned player or a complete beginner\, everyone is welcome—children\, youth\, adults\, and seniors alike. We’ll teach newcomers the game\, and equipment (paddles\, balls\, and nets) will be provided. Come enjoy this fun\, easy-to-learn sport that blends tennis\, badminton\, and ping pong! \n🧒 Free for children 12 & under and seniors 55 & over💵 $4 per session for all others (payable via QR code at the entrance)👟 Sports attire with non-marking court shoes required🚫 No food in the auditorium. Bring your own water/drinks. \nNote: These sessions will replace the Thursday Seniors’ Pickleball group from May onwards.Participation is only open to BRMC members. \nVolunteer With Us! \n\n\nLooking for committed volunteers to help set up and return all equipment at the end of each session.  If we can get 12 volunteers\, we will roster 2 volunteers per session.  Commitment will then be once every 6 weeks. \nCommunication\nAll participants will be placed in a BRMC Pickleball WhatsApp group for ease of communication.\n\n\nRegister to indicate your interest
