SUMMARY:Ordinary Time after Pentecost
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS IT?\nOrdinary Time refers to the time between the two cycles of Advent-Christmas-Epiphany and Lent-Easter-Pentecost. They are marked as “After Epiphany” and “After Pentecost” respectively. \nWHY DO WE CELEBRATE IT?\nOrdinary Time itself has no central theme\, but Scripture readings during After Pentecost often emphasise the Kingdom of God and the reign of Jesus\, through the work of his body\, the Church. We learn that the ministry of Jesus to the world continues through us\, and we minister out of the blessed hope we have of his glorious return. \nNOTHING ORDINARY ABOUT ORDINARY TIME\n“Ordinary” comes from the word “ordinal”\, referring to how the weeks are counted in order (e.g.\, 1st Sunday After Pentecost\, 2nd Sunday After Pentecost\, and so on). \nWHAT DO WE DO?\nWorship during this time generally adopts themes more related to the sermon series than the season itself. The season is punctuated by special holy days\, the source of the word “holiday”. \nGreen is used to signify growth and life. \nSpecial Days are observed\, including TRAC Conference Sunday. \nBOOKENDING THE ORDINARY\nThe first Sunday of After Pentecost is Trinity Sunday\, focusing on the doctrine of the Holy Trinity\, a crucial underlying statement of faith for all Christians. The last Sunday of After Pentecost is Christ the King Sunday\, focusing on how Christ reigns over all Creation as King\, and that this king will one day come back in glory – leading us back into the Advent anticipation. \nREFERENCES \nSenn\, Frank C. SUMMARY:WSCS AGM Retreat - How Present is God in Your Life?
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sat\, 23 Aug\nTime: 2pm – 5pm (Registration begins at 1.30pm)\nVenue: L6 Sophia Blackmore Hall\nCost: S$10/pax (includes afternoon tea)\nSpeaker: Ms Lim Yeen Fun \nDraw near to God\, and He will draw near to you. — James 4:8 \nGod isn’t distant or confined to the pages of history. He is the God who is present now—desiring to move in the midst of our ordinary days\, our routines\, our challenges\, and even our quiet spaces. \nYet\, in the busyness of life\, we sometimes drift\, limiting Him to fleeting spiritual highs or past encounters. This retreat is a gentle invitation to change that—to pause\, step aside from the daily rush\, and create space to reconnect with His nearness and hear His voice afresh. \nJoin us for an afternoon of reflection and renewal as we explore how God meets us right where we are\, breathes new life into weary hearts\, and reminds us that He is closer than we realise. Whether you’re longing for rest\, seeking direction\, or simply wanting to dwell in His presence\, this retreat is for you. \nAbout the Speaker: \nMs. Lim Yeen Fun has devoted over three decades to full-time ministry\, serving in various capacities such as Youth Pastor\, Regional Pastor\, and Executive Pastor. Her passion for missions has brought her to East and West Malaysia and Uganda\, Africa. She currently serves as Community Outreach Overseer at Victory Family Centre\, where she continues to impact lives with Christ’s love and compassion. \nSign up on the Church Center App
