SUMMARY:Ordinary Time After Epiphany
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS IT?\nOrdinary Time refers to the time between the two cycles of Advent-Christmas-Epiphany and Lent-Easter-Pentecost. They are marked as “After Epiphany” and “After Pentecost” respectively. \nWHY DO WE CELEBRATE IT?\nOrdinary Time itself has no central theme\, but Scripture readings during After Epiphany emphasise the growth of the Kingdom of God through the life and ministry of Jesus – an extension to the Epiphany theme of “revealing” Jesus to the world. \nNOTHING ORDINARY ABOUT ORDINARY TIME\n“Ordinary” comes from the word “ordinal”\, referring to how the weeks are counted in order (e.g.\, 1st Sunday After Epiphany\, 2nd Sunday After Epiphany\, and so on). \nWHAT DO WE DO?\nThe season is punctuated by special holy days (the source of the word “holiday”) such as Transfiguration Sunday. Other days significant to the congregation\, such as ACS Sunday\, are also observed. \nGreen is used to signify growth and life. \nSermons tend to focus on Jesus’ call for us to follow him as disciples. \nBOOKENDING THE ORDINARY\nBoth blocks of ordinary time keep our focus on the life and ministry of Jesus. The early weeks of After Epiphany continue the trajectory of the three strands of the Epiphany of Jesus\, in particular his baptism\, and the wedding at Cana. The first Sunday of After Epiphany is thus observed as “The Sunday of the Baptism of our Lord”. The last Sunday of After Epiphany is observed as “Transfiguration Sunday”\, the final great revelation of Jesus to the world. \nREFERENCES \nSenn\, Frank C. Introduction to Christian Liturgy. SUMMARY:EQUIP - Witnessing in Gentleness and Respect
DESCRIPTION:Learn to share the Gospel with clarity\, humility\, and grace. \nWitnessing in Gentleness and Respect (WIGR) is discipleship for Christians\, not a conversion tactic. It focuses on forming Christlike attitudes that shape how we speak\, listen\, and engage others. \nRooted in 1 Peter 3:15\, this one-day workshop covers all four WIGR part video series through Bible study\, reflection\, case studies\, and role play—helping us move from debate to compassionate dialogue. \nFor: Ministry leaders\, small group leaders\, Alpha facilitators\, hospitality team members\, and anyone seeking to witness with gentleness and respect. \nProduced by the TRAC Board of Worship & Evangelism. \nBe equipped to witness like Christ—truthful\, gentle\, and respectful. \nDate: 10 Jan 2026\nTime: 9am – 5pm\nVenue: Wesley Hall \nSign up on the Church Center App
