DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity to find out how we can support the rehabilitation of ex-offenders\, while learning to make delicious Teochew kuehs at the same time. \nIt’s held at Yoon’s Social Kitchen — a social enterprise to empower mature aged female ex-drug offenders to lead a dignified life free from the bondage of drug abuse through sustainable and gainful employment in a safe environment. \nThe session will start with a 30-minute introduction of the range of BRMC’s Prison Ministry activities followed by 1 hour of kueh making with opportunities to interact with the beneficiaries. \nEach participant will make 5 pieces of png kueh plus take home a complimentary kueh gift box containing 4 pcs of kueh (mang guang kueh\, yam kueh\, tiam tor peanut  and cickak dousha). \nYou can attend the 2-hour workshops on 21 Oct or 28 Oct. \nThere is a small fee of $20 to offset operating costs given that the session is already heavily subsidised by Yoon’s Kitchen from their usual price of $130pp for a 3-hour workshop. \nPlaces are limited to 20 per workshop. \nSign up now \nRegistration closing date: 18 Oct 2023

SUMMARY:Prison Ministry Kueh Making Workshop (Session 2)
DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity to find out how we can support the rehabilitation of ex-offenders\, while learning to make delicious Teochew kuehs at the same time. \nIt’s held at Yoon’s Social Kitchen — a social enterprise to empower mature aged female ex-drug offenders to lead a dignified life free from the bondage of drug abuse through sustainable and gainful employment in a safe environment. \nThe session will start with a 30-minute introduction of the range of BRMC’s Prison Ministry activities followed by one hour of kueh making with opportunities to interact with the beneficiaries. \nEach participant will make 3 pieces of png kueh plus take home a complimentary kueh gift box containing 4 pcs of kueh (mang guang kueh\, yam kueh\, tiam tor peanut  and cickak dousha). \nYou can attend the 2-hour workshops on 21 Oct or 28 Oct. \nThere is a small fee of $20 to offset operating costs given that the session is already heavily subsidised by Yoon’s Kitchen from their usual price of $130pp for a 3-hour workshop. \nPlaces are limited to 20 per workshop. \nSign up now \nRegistration closing date: 25 Oct 2023

A celebration of how the Church Militant (those still alive) and the Church Triumphant (those who have died) are alive in Christ\, as one Communion of Saints. \nWHY DO WE CELEBRATE IT?\nWe affirm our blessed hope that Christ has conquered death. Even death cannot separate us from his love\, and through Christ we remain connected with saints through time and space. \nWHO ARE THE SAINTS?\nWhile “saints” is sometimes used in the context of the heroes of the faith\, saints here refers to “all Christians in every time and place.” \nWHAT DO WE DO?\nWe never pray to the dead – prayers are always directed to God. We pray and thank God for those who have been called home to him\, seeking to emulate their godly examples. \nWhite is used as a symbol of joy. \nNames of those who died in the past year are read aloud. \nWe thank God for the lives of those who have gone before us. \nEASTER AND HALLOWEEN\nMost cultures have a day of remembrance for the departed\, but Christians have two – Easter and All Saints. Both are rooted in the resurrection of Jesus. \nRoughly half a year from Easter\, All Saints often bears the character of being a “little Easter”. \nHalloween\, observed on 31 Oct\, has roots in All Saints Day.
