Caecilia Halim went on BRMC’s mission trip to Nepal from 26 November to 2 December 2025. It was her second trip. She shares her takeaways here:
From this year’s mission trip, God has shown me His grace and sovereignty in many ways, especially during the preparation.
I went to Nepal for the first time last year (2024) and it was my very first ever mission trip. It was so wonderful for me that I wanted to go again. But I was unsure if I should go again this year (2025) since my budget was tight. I’ve always hoped to bring my parents on a nice family trip, so I usually don’t travel on my own and try to save up for that.
FIRST “GO”
One day, while I was talking to Aunty Serene about something else, she asked if I had signed up for the trip and told me to just go for it. I thought, okay, since it’s first come first serve, I might not even get a spot. But then I was confirmed to be in the group, and I felt like God wanted me to go.
When I told my parents, they were surprised and asked if I had enough to cover the cost. I told them God would provide, and I didn’t mind doing some freelance work if anything came up. A few opportunities appeared, but none of them worked out in the end. I thought maybe then I could take up the freelance work after the trip instead.
Around that time, my connect group’s discussion was based on James 5, about our views on money, and I shared my concern with them. Two weeks after that, one of the members messaged me to say some of them had collected money to help me go for mission in peace, and it was more than enough to cover the whole trip!

SECOND “GO”
I had been ready to do freelance work to pay for the trip, but the provision came without me needing to work for it. It reminded me of Ephesians 3:20: Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine.
I had heard a story of a missionary praying for food and shortly after, someone knocked on his door bringing the food he needed. But I never thought something like that would happen to me. That felt like the second “go” from God.
In the end, I didn’t use all the money because it didn’t feel right. I felt that it’s better to give a portion of it to the team on the ground for any needs. When I passed it to Joe (MMS missionary to Nepal), he mentioned that they were raising funds for a lady who needed surgery, so I decided that it was indeed the right choice.
LAST-MINUTE PASSPORT RENEWAL
Later, I also found out my passport was expiring in less than six months when I wanted to apply for the visa. That was two weeks before the trip. Thank God that I managed to renew it without an appointment, which usually wouldn’t be possible. Even my Indonesian colleague had been sceptical, but once it went through, it really showed me again that God was sovereign and He allowed me to go. (That was, I hope, a testimony for that colleague as well, that nothing is impossible for our Lord).
SMOOTH TRIP
During the trip, I was thankful that all three days went well. Like last year (2024), there was no visible resistance from the community despite knowing that we were part of the church. Even when there was no electricity on the second day, somehow, I didn’t feel worried at all. And true enough, they managed to get the generator working and everything went smoothly for the rest of the day.
We (the Singapore team) served the Lord together with the Nepalese believers, even though there were language barriers and some cultural differences too. But amid these, God impressed this song in my heart that:
“And on that day, we join the resurrection
And stand beside the heroes of the faith
With one voice, a thousand generations
Sing, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain”
“Forever He shall reign”!”
(lyrics from Hymn of Heaven by Phil Wickham)
