Mission trip to Chiang Mai: Stella’s reflections

23 Apr 2026

Stella Chan, a BRMC member, reflects on her experience during the 15-22 December 2025 mission trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand:

Looking back on the trip from Singapore to Chiang Mai, I saw God at work in the simple moments that quietly wove our days together. From the very first songthaew ride filled with laughter to the warm welcome from pastors, church members, and villagers, there was a deep sense that we were being guided and received with open hearts.

During our home visits, carrying trays of eggs, greeting families, and offering prayers, God’s presence was felt in the hospitality and sincerity of the people whom we met. Ministry in those moments was not about grand gestures, but about showing up, listening, praying, and sharing life together.

I also saw God’s hand in the unity and joy that grew throughout the week. Whether it was sharing a Tok Panjang meal in the mountain village, worshipping during the village Christmas service, teaching children in the schools, or singing together on Sunday at ShineForth Methodist Church, there was a beautiful sense of community forming across cultures and languages.

BRMC trippers gathered around Tok Panjang, which literally means “long table”, for a communal feast

The baptism of four new believers on our final Sunday was a powerful reminder that God continues to move in people’s hearts and families. In the mountains where there was no Wi-Fi and little distraction, God’s work felt especially clear—in the relationships formed, the faith shared, and the quiet moments that reminded us why we had come.
