Barker Road Methodist Church (BRMC) will be welcoming members of our wider Methodist community as the host of this year’s Aldersgate heritage event on 23-24 May 2026.

NOTE: BRMC members – please kindly note that there will be no 5PM services on Aldersgate weekend. 

Theme: Is The Bible Not Enough?

John Wesley’s Aldersgate encounter with the Holy Spirit, where he felt “strangely warmed”, was a turning point for him as he received the assurance of his salvation. He was a man of one book, yet his life was marked by Spirit-filled experiences. The Methodist Quadrilateral speaks of Scripture, Tradition, Reason — and Experience.

This year, we explore what Wesley believed about his experience, and what we might be missing today.
