Pastoral Appointments 2026 and TRAC Updates

We are pleased to share that four of our current pastors have been re-appointed to BRMC for 2026 following the 50th Session of the Trinity Annual Conference (TRAC), and we look forward to their ongoing ministry.

TRAC 50th Session: Key Highlights

The TRAC 50th Annual Conference (24–27 November 2025), held at Wesley Methodist Church, marked a milestone for our Methodist family. Here are the key updates for BRMC:

  • Four of our pastors have been re-appointed for 2026.
  • We rejoice with Rev Joshua Kwok on his ordination as a Deacon and his special appointment as Assistant Director, Youth Ministry (Schools).
  • We celebrate Luke Yan on receiving his Preacher’s Licence, and Pastor Ting Hua Seng, who will receive his licence in February 2026.
  • We honour Rev Dr Daniel Koh as he retires from active ministry.
  • Rev Dr Wendy Watson will be on sabbatical from 1 July to 31 December 2026.
  • Rev Dr Kow Shih Ming has been appointed Superintendent of District 1, which BRMC is part of.

At this year’s Conference, TRAC President Rev Reuben Ng reiterated three key calls:

  • Confront the 3!
Face the three long-standing challenges: the Young (youth & young adults), the Ageing, and the Shortage of Pastors, with intentional and sustained effort.
  • Commit to the 5!
Rooted in Acts 2, the 5ws – Word, Worship, Welcome, Witness, and Wonder – serve as essential practices for every church.
  • Crave the ONE!
Nothing can replace our essential need for God’s presence—the lifeline of The Methodist Church in Singapore since its Spirit-led beginnings in 1885.

Did you know?

The TRAC Annual Conference is an annual gathering of pastors and laity of the 21 English-speaking Methodist churches in Singapore. They will reflect on past programmes and discuss God’s direction for TRAC. Election of certain office holders may also be held in some years at TRAC.

In the Methodist Church, pastors in The Itinerant Ministry are appointed to their churches on an annual basis, whereas Diaconal ministers – called to specialised ministries of service, justice, and love for persons – are ordained but do not itinerate.

Candidates who begin their journey as pastors in the Methodist Church in Singapore are received into the Annual Conference as members-on-trial (MOT). The MOT phase is usually a four-year period of formal preparation for ministry as a pastor. MOTs are usually ordained as to the office of deacons midway through their formal training.

Deacons are members-on-trial who have progressed sufficiently in their preparation for ministry as pastors, and thus given authority to administer baptism, among other pastoral duties.

Elders are deacons who have completed their formal preparation for ministry as pastors and are received into full connection with the Annual Conference. Most notably, only those ordained to the office of elders are permitted to administer Holy Communion.
