Pledge FY26/27

Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” – Mark 12:43-44 (NRSV)

Dear BRMC family,

As we prepare for another year of ministry, I am writing to remind us of our commitment to give. We give because God first gave. We give as an expression of our gratitude and an acknowledgement of our dependence on His providence. All we have belongs to God. As I said to the Upper Room Service recently, God can wipe out every dollar in our bank account right now if He wants to. Thankfully, He won’t do that but continues to be generous and gracious to us. The question is: how would we respond?

Most of what the church is doing with her finances can be gleaned from a visit to our website. I want to remind us that we give out of obedience, guided by the principle of tithing. Our giving should not be dependent on our views of how our money is being put to use by the Church. When our Finance Committee presents the annual budget, it is for accountability and not for persuasion. God’s people give because they trust God to guide the church leadership to steward her resources faithfully.

It’s been a while since the pastors have taught on biblical giving. Below are a few questions and answers:

1. Why do we tithe?

We tithe as an act of commitment to God. Although God does not need our money, He gives us the privilege of partnering Him in His work here on earth.

2. What is the difference between pledging and tithing?

Pledging is a commitment to give consistently, while tithing is giving a tenth of our income. We urge worshippers to practice the biblical principle of tithing, as an expression of love and obedience to God.

3. What if we cannot afford to give 10%?

Give what you can. With God’s help and as He blesses you with more, seek to increase your pledge amount gradually.

4. I am not an official member of this church, can I still pledge?

Yes, as long as you believe that God has called you to the ministry and mission of BRMC.

Please reach out to our Finance Team if you would like to look at more detailed financial statements.
